Great fabrics inspire the core of my design work. The process begins with shopping for the fabric, and then pieces are created based on what that fabric tells me it wants to be. A lot of my favorite pieces are made from vintage material I inherited from my grandmother, which is why you see a lot of retro inspiration in my current collections.
Children's apparel should reflect the innocence of their youth and their unapologetic wild creativity, which is why I do not follow the old school design rules. Solids, stripes, florals, paisleys and plaids CAN and SHOULD be mixed together, and I enjoy using these contrasting patterns to make truly unique pieces that are as fun as the children that wear them.
My design style is not overly embellished or fussy. I prefer the pattern of the fabric or the cut of the garment to be its focal point. I also believe that children should be modest in their dress: you won't find cropped tops with low-rise jeans, only simple and sweet designs. Everything I create is made of natural fibers and, outside of special occasion apparel, is 100% machine washable.
