Where did you learn to design clothes?

I am a self-taught designer with many years of experience.  At six years old I started designing dresses for my dolls and then got into costume design in high school and college, which led to a position with a professional theatre in Philadelphia.  I then ran a custom design business for several years, focusing on special occasion apparel. Little Urbanites is the debut of my ready to wear line and the continuing offer of custom design.

What is your design style?

I like the base construction of classic and simple lines with an added touch of contemporary flare.  For my latest collection, I was inspired by the retro fabrics passed down from my grandmother and incorporated the feeling of that era into my styles.

What do you use as inspiration?

For custom designs the parents input and ideas are used and welcomed. However, for my own collections it is the material that does the talking.

What types of materials do you use?

I only use natural fibers such as cotton and silk.  Although the use of organic and hemp alternatives is open for discussion.

How long does a custom design take to create?

From start to finish the process may take one to six weeks depending on the complexity of the design.

Do you design for both girls and boys?

Yes.

What is your price range?

Depending on complexity of design and fabric choice, the range is $40-$275.
